Move over, Trekkies! You're not the nerdiest community in town.
This is an appreciation post for the A Series of Unfortunate Events fandom aka the community where all autistic people meet. That's a compliment.
I was lucky to be in this fandom for 2 decades now, starting from 2004 when I first read The Bad Beginning from our school library. It wasn't until 2014 when I joined 667 Dark Avenue, the official message board for the fandom (yeah, I just had a constant Internet connection by 2014).
*Bill Hader in his Steffon voice* This fandom has everything: literature experts, sleuthing enthusiasts, cipher nerds, and many more. It feels like we ARE VFD minus the kidnapping of children, plus loads of hyperfixations.
We used to call ourselves Volunteers until All The Wrong Questions was published and we added Associates to our names.
It's nice being in this fandom. Very welcoming of LGBT folks and very generous in sharing the books not available in some countries.
